NUMBER DAY: Cracking codes and finding locations!

Celebrating Maths at RAPS

Team Amin spent their Number Day exploring both number and geometry through position and direction! We started our day as detectives attempting to crack a code by solving various addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fraction calculations and problems. Once we cracked it, we ‘found’ the treasure hidden in our classroom. After this, we recapped our knowledge of compass points (N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE and SW), clockwise and anti-clockwise and degree turns before using this key vocabulary to find Egypt, the Nile and the pyramids of Giza on Google Earth. We were super confident with this so we then had a go at using a map of Ancient Egypt to locate places and to move about by following different directions. What a super morning we had!

Thank you to everyone who brought cakes, biscuits and other goodies in for the cake sale!
