Trip to the Tunnels

On Wednesday, we had a brilliant trip to the Ramsgate Wartime Tunnels to consolidate the learning for our topic, 'World At War'...

We learned how and why they were built and - most importantly - their impact. It was quite poignant at the end, when we were told of an elderly gentleman, now living in Australia, who featured in one of the photos. He came back recently to visit the tunnels and told of his children and great-children: without the shelter provided by the tunnels, these people may not have been born!

Why not ask your child what they remember about ABC Kemp, why Churchill was not allowed into the tunnels and how much (in today's money) they cost to build!
