Reading books
Reading records should have come today with your child, with a few log-in cards inside...
Our expectations are that ALL children read AT LEAST 3 times a week and that they are signed off in the reading record. All children have done a reading assessment since being back and allocated a suitable band. Bug Club has been updated with your child's latest reading books and it is fine for online reads to count towards the 3 for the week (still note the book title and page numbers in the reading record though please!). This process is never perfect so if you feel that the level of the reading books is too easy or too hard for your child please make a note in the reading record.
For those children who are on red reading band, they are eligible to 'free read'. This can include books from home, the school library or the book corner. Please ensure a suitable level of challenge when selecting books though!
We would ask that the reading record comes into school each day so we can record if we have listened to your child read, but we will collect them in on a Monday to ensure that 3 reads have been recorded in them.
Log-ins for Bug Club are stuck in the inside cover of the reading records along with the Mathletics log-in cards so your child can access this online maths program from home. TT Rockstar log-ins will be added shortly!
