The original applicant group were made up of the 5 individuals pictured who volunteered their own time to ensure that Ramsgate Free School opened its doors for September 2015.
Nicholas Budge – Part of the original applicant group for the school, Nick is now Head of School at Ramsgate Free School. He has over 20 year’s primary teaching and senior leadership experience in Ramsgate and London. Nick has a clear vision of what makes an effective and outstanding school and has organised effective data systems for tracking progress and has delivered CPD programmes at both whole school and individual level to improve teaching from good to outstanding.
Susan Turner – Susan has considerable experience in school business management which incorporates finance, personnel, administration and facilities. Susan holds the National College of School Leadership (NCSL) Certificate of School Business Management and the International Diploma in Administrative Management.
Christopher Dale – Chris is an experienced Headteacher and Project Leader for the Ramsgate Free School, which he founded. He has been a successful senior leader in Kent’s schools for over 15 years and is a ‘Kent Leader of Education’.
In his consultancy work, Chris has experience in supporting schools on leadership development programmes which address significant issues of underachievement, school development, financial deficit and distributive leadership. In his leadership, he sets high professional standards ensuring his vision and aims are clearly understood and translated into excellence. He possesses a deep understanding of the changing face of education and has considerable expertise in innovative curriculum design, enabling pupils to become confident, both as independent decision-makers and as team players, gaining the skills they require for the next phase of their education -This has resulted in the measurable long term success of all the schools he has worked in.
Robert Macfarlane – Since retiring, Robert has maintained his passion in Education and has become Chair of Governors of the proposer school, Chilton Primary School. Prior to this Robert was a Headteacher and a Local Authority Head for Alternative Provision and selected as a registered School Improvement Partner. He has recently completed the Chairs of Governors’ Leadership Development Programme with the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).
Helen Rowland-Hill – Helen’s background is in marketing and PR, her skills include creating and managing marketing and PR campaigns both on and offline. Helen also has experience of promoting education institutes nationally and regionally. She brings to the group, experience and understanding of internal communication, having managed a number of internal PR projects in a number of previous roles for corporate companies. Helen is a parent in the local community and has two primary aged children at the proposer school.
